Celebration by the Sea: Sarah and Eugene

Summer may be over, but things are truly "heating up" at PBW...it's our busiest time of year, for sure! We are ready to go...and we kicked off our blitz with a gorgeous end of summer wedding at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey.

Sarah and Eugene are longtime sweethearts that wanted a shore wedding, without the "beachy" elements normally attached to such locales. Sarah and Eugene envisioned greens and blues...reflecting the water...with lots of special touches that represented their personalities and heritage. With many guests coming from all over the country (and world!), they definitely wanted to create an atmosphere that would blow their guests away. After more than a year working with both Melissa and Jenny, their vision came to life...and it was better than we all imagined! The ballroom looked AMAZING..it was completely transformed into a sultry, chic and sophisticated space...that totally set the mood for a wonderful celebration!

The night kicked off with an Irish band that got things exciting, especially for the many guests that travelled from Ireland to join in the festivities! And then, the celebration truly blasted off as Sounds to Go DJs brought the house down and had guests on their feet for 90 minutes straight!

Many thanks to Leah and the entire staff at the Ocean Place resort and Spa for their assistance throughout the day and for being wonderful throughout the final stages of planning...you guys rocked! Daniel Coyle and his staff from Daniel Coyle Photography (www.danielcoylephotography.com) for being on hand all day to capture their happiness, you never stopped (!) and we cannot wait to see the awesome pics! Jill and Linda of Rose Petals and Lace (www.rosepetalsandlace.com) ...what can we say, you definitely rocked it out and all was fabulous, as usual! Joe Malfa at Wedding Cinema (www.weddingcinema.us) ...thanks for really "getting in there" and catching all the fun! Lighting was done none other than our dear Bob Lo Bue of Visions Lighting...amazing job! All of the stationery for wedding day was fabulously designed and assembled by Cam Turner of Cam Turner Design (www.camturnerdesign.com).
Thanks (and many props) to the fantastic work of Mike and Mike Jr. at Sounds to Go Djs (www.soundstogodjs.com) --above and beyond, guys!

And we cannot forget our fabulous Aimee, that completed our team and "did her thing" to the fullest...Thanks Aimee!

Best Wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness, Sarah and Eugene! We are so honored to have been a part of your most special day!

Anxiously awaiting more pics...we will share more soon!

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
Outgoing, personable, flexible with schedule, quick thinker, ability to multi task, diplomacy, organizational skills, team player attitude, have a sense of humor!!!! If you have experience and/or knowledge of the wedding industry, that is huge plus!!!

Wedding planner scams....BEWARE!

Hi All
This blog entry is really for the "planners" out there who may not be up to speed or fully aware of some of the more popular wedding planner scams sent via email these days. Below is an email I received yesterday...Mr. Naylor is in need of a planner...and he will continue to be in need of a planner....b/c I'm not falling for the craziness!

Below are some other "red flags" or popular scams that people try to play on wedding planners. I know what you're thinking..." duh...of course this is a scam!" But trust me, when a really green, new planner is trying to get business, their blinders are on, their defenses are down, and they easily fall for this crap!
Signs it's a scam
1. They want to fly from England to meet you but need your credit card to do so or need you to hold their transferred funds to do so
2. They live abroad, have 30k to 40k budget, and one of them works for Coca Cola in the U.S.
3. They just need a NJ location....and dont care where it is!
4 . They ask you about your payment, how you accept payment, how can they pay other vendors, etc.

5. You are constantly saying "what the hell is he talking about" as you read the email!!!!

My Name is Dr Dave Naylor,I am looking for an experienced wedding planner who will handle my wedding and arrange dinner for a group of people who will be attending the wedding ceremony. Seven will arrive few days before the wedding day.The wedding is expected to hold on the 18th October,2008 and 25 to 40 guests are expected to attend. As i do not know what the guests might choose for their meals and drinks, i will make a prepayment as initial deposit for thisbooking via credit card once availability is confirmed by
you.All checks and balances will be made with you on 16th July which is the final day of the booking, You are to arrange for a Videography, MusicEntertainment, Photography, Officiant/Priest & Church, cake, flowers and hall. If there is any these items that is beyond your capability, you let us know so that another company can handle it. Get back to me with your response as we don't have much time with us so that we can process our accommodation within the region more convenient for you and us.
Best Regards,
Dr Dave Naylor "

Happy and SAFE planning!
